WHY CHOOSE A HEAT PUMP?
Heat Pumps
Using the natural resources around us, Heat Pumps are highly efficient and low carbon technologies that allow us to heat our homes and buildings without the need for carbon intensive fossil fuels. At Stron we can offer a range of heat pump technologies to suit your property and budget.
It all starts with thermal energy (heat) that’s naturally in the air and ground. Even when it feels cold, there’s still plenty of heat there that can be used.
Heat pumps take this heat and raise its temperature before transferring the heat to your central heating system. This is a four-step process:
THE PROCESS
HOW A HEAT PUMP WORKS
EVAPORATION
A liquid chemical (similar to what your fridge uses) takes heat from the air or ground.
EXPANSION
The gas cools down, turning it back into a liquid, ready to start all over again.
Air Source Heat Pumps – more than 4 times as efficient as a gas boiler, air source heat pumps use the temperature in the air to heat our homes. These are the least expensive type of heat pump and are generally suitable for most homes. Installations can be as little as £12k, depending on the amount of work that needs to be done to your property. Book a no obligation survey to find out more.
Ground Source Heat Pumps – can be up to 7 times as efficient as a gas boiler. These systems are usually found in larger properties where there is a bigger garden to allow the ground collectors to be fitted. This is a more expensive system, mainly due to the need to dig or bore down to fit the ground collectors. However, the system can be much more efficient than an air source system, providing a good return on investment.
In both cases Stron Renewables will take care of all any planning requirements and permissions needed from your DNO (Distribution Network Operator).
Home EV Charging Made Simple

Solar PV & Batteries: The Perfect Partner
Lower running costs. Smarter heating. Greater energy independence.
Heat pumps are one of the most efficient ways to heat your home—but they work best when paired with solar PV and battery storage. By generating your own electricity and storing it for later use, you can power your heat pump with low‑cost, renewable energy and dramatically reduce your reliance on the grid.
Power Your Heat Pump with the Sun
Solar PV panels generate electricity during the day, exactly when your home needs energy for hot water and heating. Instead of buying that electricity from your supplier, you can use your own solar power to run your heat pump—cutting costs and emissions at the same time.
Use More of What You Generate
A battery storage system allows you to store excess solar electricity and use it in the evening or overnight, when your heat pump is still working but the sun isn’t shining. This means less wasted energy, higher self‑consumption, and greater savings.
Reduce Energy Bills & Running Costs
Heat pumps are far cheaper to run when powered by solar and battery storage. By combining the technologies, you protect yourself from rising electricity prices and make your heating system as cost‑effective as possible.
A Future‑Ready Home
Solar PV, batteries, and heat pumps work together to create a fully electric, low‑carbon home. This setup is ideal for households moving away from gas, preparing for EV charging, and meeting future energy standards—all while increasing property appeal and long‑term value.
Cleaner, Greener Heating
Using solar power to run your heat pump significantly reduces your home’s carbon footprint. It’s one of the most effective ways to cut CO₂ emissions while staying warm and comfortable all year round.
Smart Energy, Working Together
With modern smart controls and monitoring apps, your solar panels, battery, and heat pump operate as one intelligent system—automatically optimising when energy is generated, stored, and used.
